Mike Shmerling XMi High Growth Development Fund, LLC — Mike Shmerling's XMi Capital was one of the first firm's to signal its intention to pursue a TNInvestco allocation, under leadership of XMi Management CFO and division President Jim Phillips. Partners in the new LLC include XMi Holdings Inc.; Tom Cigarran, founder of Healthways; the Geringer Family Trust; and, W. Main Capital Partners, which is sponsored by River City Company, a development fund that draws in private capital to promote entrepreneurship and innovation. State online records indicates W. Main was registered by David Belitz, who is CFO of the Lupton Company, the investment-management company associated with the Lupton family and wealth derived from Coca-Cola Enterprises holdings. XMi recently announced it was creating a small-business incubator, and Shmerling, himself, has frequently advanced ideas for local enterprise. Phillips has been with Shmerling more than seven years. Prior to joining XMi, Phillips was with Whitney Johns & Co. He earned his MBA at VU's Owen Graduate School of Management and his bachelor's in management and psychology at St. Joseph's University. Shmerling earned his bachelor of accountancy at the University of Oklahoma, in 1977, and used his then-active CPA during a stint with Ernst & Young. XMi's website indicates Shmerling is not only CEO and chairman if Xebec Management, Inc. (dba XMi), but also chairs Choice Food Group, Inc., HealthConnect America, Inc., SelectAir, LLC, and XMi Financial Services, LLC. He is also a member boards of Renasant Corporation, parent of Renasant Bank and Renasant Insurance; and, is on the board and audit committee of HealthStream Inc., which is run by Founder-CEO Bobby Frist, with whom Shmerling co-chaired a local 75-person Chamber task force, which is launching the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.
