| Waddey Patterson IP lawyer ranks rising |

The firm recently hired Rebecca McClintock as an associate. She was previously an associate with Michael Best & Friedrich, in Chicago.
While McClintock was with MB&F, she was, among other duties, part of a team of lawyers pressing a copyright-infringement lawsuit filed in Illinois Northern Federal District Court earlier this year in behalf of BMI, Sony/ATV Songs and others, versus defendants Vonch LLC and Stephen Drabowski.
McClintock is a registered patent attorney. She holds a bachelor's in biomedical engineering from the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering, and a law degree from Loyola University Chicago Law School. While in law school, McClintock was a member of the school's Health Policy and Law Review.
Waddey & Patterson also recently announced that Parrish Freeman Jr. joined the firm, of counsel. He was previously a shareholder with Workman|Nydegger, an intellectual-property law firm in Salt Lake City. Freeman earned his bachelor's in chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned his J.D. at the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University, near Fayetteville, N.C. Freeman is a native of Chattanooga.
A spokesman for Waddey & Patterson said a third new attorney, whom the firm declined to identify at this time, has accepted an invitation to join the firm and is expected to join as an associate, this fall.
Waddey is now at its greatest number of lawyers since 2007, when in a series of moves the firm added former New York City litigator John Triggs, Associate Jason Hornkohl left to start his own practice, and the firm closed its 3-lawyer Huntsville office.
The 17-year-old law firm tends to hire attorneys with engineering and-or science backgrounds. Co-founder Jack Waddey earned his J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center, after obtaining his bachelor's in aerospace engineering at Auburn University. Among other posts prior to founding his firm, Waddey was for a time an engineer with a General Electric Co. unit, and an examiner in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
Similarly, Co-founder Mark Patterson, who earned his J.D. at the Florida State University College of Law, had earlier earned his bachelor's in electrical engineering at Cornell University. ♦
