HCA's Bovender
With the nation focused on healthcare and two big manufacturing wins under Tennessee's belt, a delegation of Nashvillians will be knocking on New York City doors this week.

Representatives of 13 Nashville companies and nine associations and state and local government agencies depart tomorrow on the "2009 New York Trade Mission," coordinated by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce (NACC).

Jack Bovender, HCA executive chairman, will preside during a Wednesday morning breakfast event at the Harvard Club, where about 100 executives with interest in healthcare ventures are expected to attend, according to Pepper.  Bovender retired as HCA's CEO at year-end, and was succeeded in that role by Richard Bracken, the company's former chief operating officer.

Wednesday evening, the industry-recruitment team will host a similar event for the music and entertainment industry, coordinated by Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).

State Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matt Kisber and NACC President Ralph Schulz (at left) are scheduled to be among the travelers.
