Headsup: 'Women + AI Summit' slated at Vanderbilt University
Comment Print

THE FIRST Women + AI Summit on the Vanderbilt University campus is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2025.

The in-person Saturday event is to take place at Vanderbilt Law School and is scheduled 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., followed by a reception.

The organizers -- Caitlin 'Cat' Moon JD and Charreau Bell PhD -- have described the event as advancing the role of Women in these ways:

  • ACTION: We seek to transform insights into impact through collaborative problem-solving
  • COMMUNITY: We seek to build lasting connections with diverse women (and our allies) leading AI across every domain
  • EMPOWERMENT: We seek to gain the tools, knowledge, and network to advance our AI goals

The Summit is designed as a cross-disciplinary, cross-industry event that helps connect, empower and inspire women to lead in the adoption, advancement, and design of AI.

The event is co-sponsored by host Vanderbilt AI Law Lab (VAILL), alongside cosponsors Vanderbilt Data Science Institute and the VU College of Connected Computing.

Registration for W+AI (pronounced "way") has yet to open, but those most interested in attending are invited to join the group's already-growing queue, by signing-up for Summit mailings and subsequent registration via this form.

W+AI list subscribers will receive registration alerts ahead of the opening of General registration, now planned for Jan. 2, 2025.

Plans for the event do not currently include Hybrid/virtual access to the WAI Summit, but that option has not yet been ruled-out.

Would-be attendees who would like to volunteer as session presenters, designers, facilitators, potential hybrid-event producers or other event-crew roles are encouraged to complete the Contributor Interest form here, by Dec. 23.

Also, the organizers have also invited any and all parties with AI interests -- whether or not planning to attend the Summit -- to send the WAI team their individual 'AI stories' no later than Jan. 22.

Submitting contributor interest and personal "AI stories" will help the organizers shape and weight the content and structure of this and future WAI events.

The organizers have said that the WAI Summit's general-admission registration payment of $100 is not required of attendees who are students, Summit contributors, Summit team members, or others who present a fee-waiver request, according to WAI materials online.

Vanderbilt University is also to be the site of VU's AI Days 2025, March 5-6, 2025, pre-registration form.

Also, each autumn in recent years, Vanderbilt Health/VUMC has held Healthcare & AI Sessions (HAIS) on campus and that seems likely to continue in 2025.
